TRADE FRICTIONS BETWEEN China and the European Union (EU) over the alleged "dumping" of cheap Chinese solar panels in the European market have been defused by the European Commission's (EC's) decision in late July to withdraw temporary anti-dumping tariffs imposed on Chinese solar panel imports into the EU in June this year.
The EC and China have agreed minimum pricing for Chinese solar panels imported into Europe which the EC feels does not constitute unfair competition.
China - the world's largest producer of solar panels - exports in excess of US$20bn annually of solar panels to Europe.
